FAQ

How much more do I need to sell at 20% off?

With a 40% margin, 20% off halves profit per unit, so you need 100% more units to break even. With a 60% margin you need about 50% more.

Why doesn’t a 20% discount need just 20% more sales?

The discount comes entirely out of profit, not revenue. The thinner the margin, the larger the share of profit each percent off removes.

What if the discount is bigger than my margin?

Then every discounted sale loses money and no volume can make it up — the calculator flags this.
